Dr Cheson is Professor of Medicine, Head of Hematology, and Director of Hematology Research at Lombardi. Dr Cheson's clinical interests focus on the development and evaluation of new therapeutic approaches for hematologic malignancies. Most recently, he was Head of the Medicine Section for the National Cancer Institute's Clinical Investigations Branch within the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program, and senior staff physician in the NCI's Lymphoma Clinic.

Dr Cheson is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Tufts University School of Medicine. From 1995 until his recent faculty appointment, he was a Clinical Professor of Medicine (hematology/oncology) at Georgetown.

Dr Jagannath is chief of the Multiple Myeloma Program and Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplantation Program at St. Vincent's Comprehensive Cancer Center (SVCCC) in New York City. Dr Jagannath recently received the Humanitarian Award from the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in May 2006. This is the third award he has received from the foundation; he also was the recipient of the Humanitarian Award in 2003 and the Spirit of Hope Award in 2005.

Dr Jagannath graduated from Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda, India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at The Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in the Bronx, New York and Harper-Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He was awarded a fellowship in medical oncology from MD Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Houston, Texas.

Dr Cortés is the Deputy Chair in the Department of Leukemia at The University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, Texas. He is also the Chief of the CML Section in the Department of Leukemia. In 1991 he started his hematology-oncology fellowship at M.D Anderson and in 1995 was appointed Head of the Hematology/Oncology Department of the Instituto Nacional de la Nutricion Salvador Zubiran in Mexico City. In 1996 he returned to the Department of Leukemia at M. D. Anderson. He is also program director of the Leukemia Fellowship at MD Anderson and has several other administrative appointments such as Chair of the Intensive Care Unit Committee, Chair of the Transfusion Committee, and Vice Chair of the Institutional Review Board.

Dr Cortés earned his medical degree at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City.
